Where mountains meet rivers, and spice meets skyline.

Chongqing

City Introduction
Chongqing, one of China's four direct-controlled municipalities, is a sprawling metropolis where mountains meet rivers and modernity embraces tradition. Known as the "Mountain City" for its dramatic topography, this urban giant of 34 million people rose to become China's fourth-largest economy in 2024. Nestled at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, Chongqing offers golfers a unique highland experience with courses carved into hillsides, winding fairways through valleys, and stunning river vistas. Since becoming a municipality in 1997, Chongqing has developed into a vibrant golf destination with world-class facilities and a growing reputation in Chinese golf.

Why Golf Here?
Chongqing is home to more than 10 golf courses, many designed by legendary architects including Jack Nicklaus and Brian Curley. The city's mountainous terrain creates naturally challenging layouts with dramatic elevation changes, winding fairways, and strategic bunkering rarely found elsewhere. Chongqing has emerged as a significant force in Chinese golf, hosting professional tournaments including the China Tour, European Challenge Tour, and the prestigious National Golf Championship—a decade-long commitment at Chongqing Poly Golf Club. The city has produced remarkable local talent, including Zhou Yanhan who won four consecutive Chongqing Opens from 2022 to 2025. From Nicklaus-designed championship layouts to riverside courses with Jialing River views, Chongqing's diverse golf portfolio offers unforgettable challenges. The city's strategic location and year-round playability make it an emerging golf destination in Southwest China.

Best Season to Visit
The optimal time for golf in Chongqing is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when temperatures are mild, humidity is lower, and skies are clearer. Spring offers pleasant weather around 11-26°C ideal for full-day rounds, though occasional light fog may appear. Autumn provides cool conditions with stunning red, orange, and yellow foliage. Summer (June to August) can be extremely hot and humid—Chongqing is one of China's "Three Furnaces"—making morning rounds essential. Winter (December to February) is surprisingly playable with chilly mornings but warm afternoons, plus discounted green fees and quieter courses.
